Hossam is the Chief Executive Officer of Ouswah Capital, an investment firm that invests in private and public opportunities in MENA and developed markets. He was a Founding Partner and Chairman of Saray Capital from 2014 to 2022, focusing on listed equities and commercial real estate in MENA and developed markets.
Hossam was previously the Managing Director and Regional Head of MENA for Private Equity at Standard Chartered Bank in Dubai. He is an independent Non-Executive Director on the Boards of Dubai-based Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP), the MENA region’s leading venture capital firm, and Al Hassan Ghazi Ibrahim Shaker, a leading Saudi white goods manufacturer and distributor. He is also a Board member of Orascom Industrial Parks, one of Egypt’s first private-sector industrial real estate developers.
He is the founder and Chairman of the AlThuraya Foundation, a UK-registered charitable foundation that offers prestigious university scholarships to outstanding young individuals from the MENA region. The Foundation works with the Cambridge Trust to offer the AlThuraya Cambridge Scholarship for Masters applicants in a range of fields. In 2020, Hossam acquired the designation of Chartered Director from the UK’s Institute of Directors. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management (Honours), from the University of Pennsylvania – the Wharton School of Business.
