Dr Ziad is an Egyptian lawyer, economist and expert on financial, investment and corporate law, governance, compliance and economic legislation. With over 35 years of experience in the private and public sectors, he has held several senior government positions in Egypt, including Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Development and Minister of International Cooperation. He is a former professor of law and a senior legal advisor to the Minister of Economy and has served as Executive Chairman of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.
He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of the Bank of Alexandria (ALEXBANK) and a non-executive member of the Boards of Directors of AXA Egypt, Allam Holding, MTI Egypt, Maridive Group, Samcrete and Al Salam Hospital, as well as the Boards of Advisors of Al-Foteim Group Egypt and Arkan Group. He is a Managing Partner of Bahaa-Eldin Law Office and Thebes Consultancy.
Dr Ziad is a regular political and economic commentator in Egyptian newspapers and has contributed to other Arab and international publications. His various non-profit activities include founding the Egyptian Initiative for the Prevention of Corruption and serving as Chairman of the Ahmed Bahaa-Eldin Cultural Foundation in Assiut. He received a PhD in Financial Law from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (1997), an LLM in International Business Law from King’s College London (1989), a BA in Economics from the AUC Cairo (1987) and a Bachelor of Law from Cairo University (1986).
